Widespread 20-miles-per-hour speed limits have been blamed for London being the world’s slowest capital city to drive in.

Location firm TomTom says it took an average of three minutes and 38 seconds to travel 1 kilometre there last year.

Outer London boroughs such as Richmond also see significant delays, while London was the eighth most congested town or city in the UK.

Belfast ranked the worst at 585, followed by Edinburgh and Cambridge.
