More than 100,000 people over the age of 65 were forced to wait in A&E corridors for up to three days last year.

Age UK says over half were 80-plus, waiting to be moved to a hospital bed.

St Peter’s Hospital in Chertsey declared a Critical Incident last week due to severe pressure, which was stood down three days later.
