It’s after a after a 42 year old prisoner at HMP Bronzefield in Ashford, choked on a piece of underwear and died in 2021.
Diana Grant controlled her paranoid schizophrenia with medication but is believed to have been in a state of psychosis at the time.
Richard Travers said he’s concerned people were being held in prison instead of secure mental health unit estates due to limited capacity.
An HMP Bronzefield spokesperson said: “We understand that this is a difficult time for Mrs. Grant’s family and friends, and our thoughts and condolences remain with them. While many changes and improvements have been made in the prison over the course of the four years since Mrs Grant’s death, we will consider the jury’s findings and conclusions with great care and continue to build on progress made from the inquest.”
