A so-called Mansion Tax announced in the budget could affect nearly 7% of homes in Richmond.

The package of measures introduced includes the High Value Council Tax Surcharge on properties worth over £2 million.

It’s set to come in to force in April 2028 generating an estimated £20.1 million according to Richmond Council officials.

But council bosses say the extra money collected will not help residents as it will go to central government.
