The council has introduced cameras on Steventon, Bryony, and Sawley Roads to reduce commuter “cut-through” traffic.
Residents, businesses, emergency services and registered visitors will still have full access to the routes.
The trial, which the authority says is supported by hundreds of people, will run for up to 18 months.
