Battersea’s Labour MP says the decision to keep Lavender Hill Police Station’s front counter open is a relief.

The Met Police is dropping the number of public contact points from 37 to 27 across London in a bid to save £260 million.

The U-turn on Lavender Hill means although it won’t go back to being open 24/7, it will not close.

Marsha de Cordova says shutting it completely would have been “devastating.”
