England’s water firms have recorded their worst environmental performance on record, with serious pollution cases up 60%

The regulator points the finger at years of underinvestment and poor maintenance and says tighter monitoring’s revealing more failings.

Thames Water, which covers SW London, performed the worst earning the lowest one star rating.

Only Severn Trent earned the top rating in the Environment Agency’s annual review.
