Ambulance staff and volunteers across Surrey have been honoured on Emergency Services Day today.

The national day celebrates the work of ambulance crews, police, firefighters, NHS staff and first responders.

A two-minute silence was observed at 9 o’clock this morning to remember the 7,500 who have died in the line of duty.

SECAmb Chief Simon Weldon praised Surrey teams as “selfless” and urged residents to support or join the service.
