Colin Sutton will be the party’s adviser on police and crime.
Former detective Sutton was previously in charge of the search for serial rapist and murderer Levi Bellfield.
He was found guilty in 2008 of the murders of 19-year-old Marsha McDonnell in Hampton and 22 year old French student Amélie Delagrange on Twickenham Green.
He was also found guilty of the attempted murder of 18-year-old student Kate Sheedy in Isleworth and sentenced to life imprisonment
While in jail, he was found guilty of the abduction and murder of 13 year old Milly Dowler who went missing on her way home from school, in Walton in 2002.
