Customers of Virgin Media along Tolworth Broadway first reported the glitch on Sunday morning.

One customer received an email confirmation yesterday evening saying the problem had been resolved.

However, the same customers say they are still without their landlines today.

One business owner told us clients have not been able to contact his office for two days costing him potentially thousands of pounds in lost revenue.

There is also a concern that some elderly customers, who depend on their landlines, may be affected.

Engineers have told us the problem, details of which have not been disclosed, should be fixed within 48 hours of it being reported today.

A Virgin Media spokesperson said: “We’re aware a handful of customers in the Surbiton area are having issues with their landline service. Engineers have been on site this morning and will restore services as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
