The warning is coming from Battersea Dogs and Cats Home.
Cats have a habit of crawling under car bonnets and wheel arches to soak up the warmth from car engines and tyres during cold weather.
The charity says drivers should tap the bonnet of their car and check around the wheels and on top of tyres before starting the engine.
