Deen City Farm says it has been a “catastrophic year” with “massively increased costs” and it is struggling to stay afloat.

Donations at the start of the year totalling £30,000 were spent on a major power system failure.

This stopped the urban farm from operating at capacity for 8 months.

Deen city, near Merton Abbey Mills, is a community farm that offers work experience, a riding school and animal therapy.

130,000 people visit the urban farm annually.

Bosses and volunteers say closing is the last resort and they will do whatever it takes to keep the farm gates open.
