The All England Club, which is behind the annual Wimbledon fortnight, wants to build on the former golf course.

The decision was referred to Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, after Merton Council agreed to the plans but Wandsworth Council didn’t.

Mr Khan in turn deferred the decision until after the Mayoral elections which took place May.

Campaign group, Save Wimbledon Park, is hosting a public meeting at St. Barnabas Church, 146 Lavenham Road in Southfields, on Monday September the 23rd from 7.30-9.30pm.

The AELTC says:

We have undertaken very significant levels of consultation with residents, online and face to face.

More than 7,000 people have attended both virtual and in-person events, which have included 100 guided tours of the proposed new southern parkland.

This is one of the most extensive consultations of any major development project in recent years.
