The theatre first opened in 1984 and hosts a varied programme of events from both professional and community productions.
The works by Epsom and Ewell Council will be funded using an allocation from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
The plans include a new lift to aid accessibility, as well as a new artistic mural depicting Epsom-born singer and actress, Evelyn Dove.
