Wandsworth Council is leading a campaign against a decision to change the location of local children’s cancer services.

In March NHS England announced it would move the centres at St George’s Hospital and The Royal Marsden to the Evelina in Lambeth.

The council has now confirmed it will refer the decision to new Health Secretary Wes Streeting in a bid for him to intervene.

They are particularly concerned about the prospect of parents having to travel via public transport into Central London.

The NHS said they have to move as very specialist children’s cancer services must be on the same site as a paediatric intensive care unit.
