London Fire Brigade is to stop attending false automatic alarms unless they are reported in person.

The brigade attended around 52,000 false alarms generated by automatic fire alarms between April last year and this March.

The LFB says the changes are being made to ease the burden on resources as less than 1% of automatic fire alarms are real fires.

The move will come into force in October.
