It stands near Wick Pond but has come to the end of its natural lifespan.
It will be laid in Windsor Great Park but it is not yet known what will replace it.
The 100ft memorial pole was gifted by the government of British Columbia in 1958.
A sister monument in Vancouver was lowered in 2018.
