51-year-old PC Anthony Rowley has been charged with four counts of sexual assault on a girl aged under 14 between 1988 and 1989.
The allegations were reported to police in May last year.
PC Rowley was arrested in June, released on bail and charged earlier this year in February.
The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards are conducting a misconduct investigation alongside the criminal investigation.
