Unilever plans to axe 7,500 jobs globally as part of cost-cutting plans which will save the firm £684million over the next three years.

The firm behind Marmite and Dove soap employs 128,000 people worldwide and 6,000 of which are based in the UK.

The new global HQ is currently being built in Kingston town centre.

The company says it will provide 2,000 jobs at the “campus” when it’s finished next year.

The company’s also planning a spin-off of its ice-cream business as our business correspondent Ian King explains.
