It’s hoped a new £1.5 million research facility at the University of Surrey will help scientists trace nano plastics inside the human body.

The Centre of Excellence for Bioanalytical Science has opened thanks to a £500,000 grant from the Wolfson Foundation.

Plastic particles are known to absorb toxic chemicals that pollute the planet and leach them into living organisms like people and animals.

The new centre will also train the next generation of scientists and offer a hub for academic, industry, government, and NHS partners.
