Lambeth Council says it’s blocked a number of fraudulent attempts by people trying to purchase properties under the Right to Buy scheme.

The sale of 17 houses and flats, some worth £2 million, have been stopped in the borough in recent months.

Right to Buy allows council tenants to purchase their authority owned home at a discount.

The council says the action against Right to Buy fraud alone has saved taxpayers more than £1.8 million.
