Richmond Council is releasing a dramatic film to warn young people of the dangers of swimming in the Thames.

It’s been created in partnership with RNLI Teddington and London Fire Brigade.

The aim is to explain to youngsters that they must call 999, “float to live” and use a throw bag if they get into difficulty in the water.

14-year-old Brian Sasu lost his life jumping into the River Thames from a bridge at Tagg’s Island in Hampton last year.

Tomorrow is national World Drowning Prevention Day and London Fire Brigade will be hosting a safety event at Teddington Lock between 12 noon and 4pm. The team is keen it’s attended by parents and guardians as well as teens.
