Ambulance workers in Surrey, Sussex and Kent have suffered more than 2,000 violent attacks in the line of duty over the last five years.

That’s according to an investigation by the GMB Union.

Incidents involved biting, head butting, spitting, attacks involving weapons and almost 100 of them were sexual assaults.

The Assaults Against Emergency Workers Act 2018 have made assaults on ambulance workers an aggravating factor for sentencing.
