100 robotic bowel operations have been completed at Ashford and St Peter’s hospitals over the last 18 months.

“Da Vinci” robotic surgery provides 3D visuals coupled with instruments that have 360-degree mobility.

Surgeons say this provides dexterity and precision permitting fine control for minimally invasive surgery.

Operations carried out include bowel reconstruction and cancer,
Colitis and Crohn’s disease surgery.
