The former Conservative MP for Richmond Park is a keen wildlife supporter and served as Minister of State for Overseas Territories, Commonwealth, Energy, Climate and Environment from September 2022 until June this year.
He wants the amendment to make swift bricks mandatory in new housing in England.
The proposal will be debated in the House of Lords this week as a result.
