A burst watermain in Kings Avenue caused the road to open up on Tuesday leading to localised flooding.
Thames Water says the size of the burst pipe and its location requires a specialist team to fix it.
Nevil Muncaster from the company says engineers are actually working on the lowest number of outstanding jobs at the moment.
