A meeting has taken place between the All England Club and campaigners from Save Wimbledon Park group.

The meeting was hosted by Wimbledon MP, Paul Kohler.

Campaigners are trying to halt plans from the world-famous tennis organisation to build a stadium and courts on former golf club land.

They’ve so far raised £120,000 to fund a legal challenge against the Mayor of London’s decision to grant planning permission.

The All England Club says expansion is needed to maintain Wimbledon’s position as one of the pre-eminent sporting events in the world.

Mr Kohler’s office says the meeting yesterday was held ‘without prejudice’ due to the ongoing litigation.

However, it was productive with all parties committing to a continuing dialogue.
