What appears to be a sinkhole has opened up at the home of AFC Wimbledon in Plough Lane.

Newcastle’s EFL Cup third round tie at AFC Wimbledon tomorrow has been postponed as a result.

The pitch at the League Two club isn’t in a playable condition due to overnight flooding.

Video footage appears to show the pitch buckling.

After having begun construction in 2019, the ground only opened in November 2020.

A rearranged date for the fixture is yet to be confirmed.

The club says the stadium is closed until further notice.
