Volunteers have been helping to take the strain off A&E at Kingston Hospital.

They’ve been covering extra shifts from 6am to 11pm, restocking, cleaning, making teas and coffees and chatting to patients.

Hospital bosses have thanked the volunteers at a time when the department has been busier than usual.

Meanwhile, the hospital has been carrying out its urgent and emergency care survey, which takes in people’s experiences at the site.
