Malayalam is a Dravidian language, primarily spoken by the Malayali people, native to the Indian state of Kerala and the union territories of Lakshadweep and Puducherry.
Spoken by over 38 million people, the team has checked and corrected 8,000 translations in news, finance, and law.
The project also adds simple notes explaining what went wrong in translations, helping systems learn from their mistakes.
The dataset, coming in April, could improve online translations for Malayalam and other under-supported languages.
