Two years after the death of a boy in the Thames at Hampton, the Mayor of London has agreed to look at new water safety measures.

14-year-old Brian Sasu drowned after jumping into the river at Tagg’s Island on a hot day in July 2022.

Leader of Richmond Council, Gareth Roberts, has asked Sadiq Khan to use his office to amplify messaging around water safety.

The Mayor of London has also agreed to roll out the use of swimmers’ “rescue polls” if trials of them are successful.
