They may be considered man’s best friend, but there were 604 reports of dog cruelty in Surrey last year.

That’s according to new figures released by animal charity the RSPCA.

The statistics include reports made about intentional harm, neglect and abandonments.

Nationally, there were more than 40,000 reports of animal cruelty made to the RSPCA last year which is a 7% increase on 2021.
