Born Stephen Austin in 1966, he rose to fame in the 1990s rave scene and became the first drum ’n’ bass MC with a mainstream album.

He died suddenly in 1998, aged 31.

A new documentary, HYPER: The Stevie Hyper D Story, has renewed calls to recognise his influence on UK music.

His nephew Darrell Austin hopes the plaque will ensure new generations remember Stevie’s legacy.
