The Rugby Football Union is to retrospectively recognise 47 players who represented England but did not receive a full cap at the time.

The Twickenham based organisation has announced a major heritage initiative to thank players dating back to 1945.

Many of the fixtures were classified differently at the time meaning official caps were not recorded.

The games include the Victory Internationals and select tour matches.
