Radio Jackie News is told the unit will increase access to expert medical treatment for patients across Surrey and the South-East.

The new MDU is  integrated with the existing Private Care Outpatient’s Department creating a private patient ‘hub’.

It features 17 individual treatment bays providing a discreet treatment area, two chairs for blood collection, two clinic rooms, and private care support services.

The space prioritises comfort, privacy, and convenience.

Modelled on The Royal Marsden’s award-winning Cavendish Square facility, the new unit brings the high-quality environment typically associated with central London to Sutton  and offering private patients in Surrey access to “world-class care closer to home.”

In collaboration with Royal Marsden clinical teams and using patient feedback, the unit has been carefully designed to meet patients’ needs and enable the delivery of some of the most advanced cancer treatments available, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapies and complementary therapies.

Dame Cally Palmer, Chief Executive of The Royal Marsden said:

“We are delighted to open our brand-new Medical Day Unit (MDU) in Sutton for private patients.

“We have designed a modern, light-filled environment that sets the highest standards for comfort, privacy and care to deliver the very latest treatments supported by our world-leading clinical teams. This new setting will support patients’ comfort during their cancer treatment.

Professor Christopher Nutting, Medical Director, The Royal Marsden Private Care said:

The Royal Marsden in Sutton provides access to outstanding private care for those living in Surrey and the South-East, matching the best cancer treatment available in central London.

“The new Sutton MDU has the same high-standard finish as The Royal Marsden Private Care’s Cavendish Square facility which opened in 2021 and is located in the heart of the capital’s world-renowned Harley Street healthcare district.’’

Greg, a private patient at The Royal Marsden said:

“My experience with The Royal Marsden has been excellent, it’s been everything I’d hoped for. A family friend was a top cancer professor in the country, and he said I had to go to The Royal Marsden. ‘’

“The new Medical Day Unit is very nice. The waiting room is really lovely and it’s a great idea to have cubicles, which allows for more privacy if you want it.”

Katy, from Bury St Edmunds, a private patient at The Royal Marsden said:
