The MP for Epsom and Ewell is slamming Thames Water following its ‘worst ever’ environmental rating.

It was the only company to be awarded one star for its performance by The Environment Agency.

In 2023 and 24, its serious sewage pollution incidents more than doubled from 14 to 33.

Helen Maguire says Thames Water’s record is “utterly damning” and she’s calling for stronger regulation to hold the company to account.

A spokesperson for the Thames Water said:

“Transforming Thames is a major programme of work that will take time.

“It will take at least a decade to achieve the scale of change required.”
