Event organisers say “there have been a number of unforeseen factors this year that have led to this difficult decision”.

They go on to say the security and logistics of cycling events in public spaces creates significant operational challenges and all available options have been explored but the team has concluded that they can’t make the event work this year.

Around 4,000 people took part last year.
