The Lib Dems have their first ever seat in the London Assembly, and it’s in the South West.

Gareth Roberts was elected with almost 67,000 votes, with Labour candidate Marcela Benedetti in second with 50,000.

Lib Dems leader and MP of Kingston Sir Ed Davey commented, saying the party are moving from strength-to-strength.

The rest of the assembly includes ten Labour seats, and just three Conservative seats including Neil Garratt of Croydon and Sutton.
