From Tuesday, the 3rd of March, the front counter will be open from Monday to Friday 10am until 10pm.
At busy weekends this will be reduced further from 9am until 7pm.
As all 24/7 front counters are closing completely in Merton, this means the nearest one will be Charing Cross in central London.
The Met Police says it’s part of a series of “tough choices” to close a £260m funding gap.
Sir Sadiq Khan was re-elected as Mayor of London for a historic third term in 2024.
At the time, he made a manifesto pledge to have at least one 24-hour counter open in each of London’s 32 boroughs the Met operates in.
