The Theatre faces potential closure because a church group purchased it and is seeking planning permission to convert it into a place of worship, which would stop it from returning to its use as a theatre and cultural venue.
The building stopped being used for theatre productions in 2017.
Campaigners, led by The Friends of Streatham Hill Theatre, are fighting the plans, arguing they go against the council’s policies to protect arts and cultural sites.
They’ve instead proposed a plan to restore the building for community arts use.
The council’s planning committee is expected to make a decision in a couple of months’ time.
