The historic event dates back to the 12th century and sees mute swans rounded up, caught, ringed, and then released to track their numbers.
Only 86 young swans were found during last year’s upping, representing a 45% decline in two years.
The process will finish on the Oxfordshire stretch of the Thames later this week.
