Tenants fear they could be made homeless within days after a charity in Richmond raised their rent by £700 a month

The Poppy Factory owns all sixty-two flats on an estate in Petersham Road.

Last week some residents received a letter informing them of rent the rent increases.

The charity says the move comes ahead of the Renters Right Act being brought in, which will stop landlords from suddenly upping charges.

The Poppy Factory says it recognised the proposed increases ‘have caused concern’ and that they are in contact with tenants to help relieve any distress.
