Issues around the service residents receive when they dial 999, 101 and digital 101 have been highlighted in a report.
It’s been published by His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire Services today.
Inspectors visited Surrey Police during the summer to carry out a Police Effectiveness, Efficiency and Legitimacy review.
Concerns were raised over the length of time it takes for contacts made via 101 and 999 to be answered.
Lisa Townsend says Surrey continues to have the fourth lowest overall crime rate in England and Wales.
She says it remains the safest county in the south-east.
