Surrey Police is warning residents about the rising theft of catalytic converters, which can be stolen in under a minute.

Hybrid vehicles are often targeted, but any car can be at risk for the precious metals inside, particularly on streets and in car parks.

Police are advising parking in well-lit areas, using locks or forensic marking, and installing CCTV or motion-sensor lighting.

If a theft is witnessed, we are being told not to approach suspects but to move to safety and call 999 immediately.
