Surrey Police is telling people not to be alarmed if they see an armed officer presence at festive events this year

Officers say they appreciate this can be “an alarming sight” but it is part of routine foot patrols and not in response to any particular threat.

They say they are “more than happy” to speak to people if they have any concerns or worries.
