650 trees were given away across Reigate, Dorking, Chertsey, Farnham, Haslemere and Molesy libraries.

It is part of the county council’s pledge that by 2030, 1.2 million trees will be planted – one for every resident.

Trees will be planted in both urban and rural locations, and supported to grow to maturity.
