Surrey has been named one of the best-performing counties in England for waste, sending just 0.2% to landfill and recycling 54.5%.

Households throw away an average of 445kg of rubbish a year, which is below the national average.

Most of its waste is treated in the UK, with any exported sent to licensed facilities.

Residents are being urged to recycle correctly to help Surrey stay at the top.
