Surrey County Council has unanimously agreed to take urgent action following the Child Safeguarding Practice Review into the death of Sara Sharif.

The cross-party motion accepted all 15 recommendations recognising that these failures damaged public trust in protecting children.

A Select Committee meeting will take place before the end of the year to examine the review and shape recommendations for the Secretary of State.

The Council Leader will write to the Secretary of State and local MPs to push for urgent national reforms and legislative changes.
