Support staff at schools in Merton could go on strike over unfair pay, losing about £1,400 a year compared to teachers.

They say they receive a lower Outer London pay allowance, while teachers get the higher Inner London rate.

The GMB Union says a petition of over 500 signatures hasn’t solved the issue, and claims talks with the council have failed.

The vote on strike action starts on the 27th of February, with any strikes likely before the May’s Local Elections.
