Stag beetle researchers have called on people to record sightings to help track their whereabouts and numbers.

The beetles whose males have distinctive antler-like jaws are most commonly found in west and south west London parks.

Richmond Park, and Wimbledon and Putney commons are designated European Special Areas for Conservation partly for the species.

The London Wildlife Trust said they are globally threatened, and the count would help map their presence in London.
